I'm so excited about the upcoming performances with 3 different productions of Don Carlo in both italien (@deutscheoperberlin/@wienerstaatsoper) and french (@wienerstaatsoper) version, my debut at @teatro_real and @royalballetandopera, 3 opportunities to enjoy @wienerstaatsoper with my beloved Eboli and a role debut with Marguerite, my favorite bohemian is of course in the game @staatsoperhamburg and last but not least we finally end the Ring cycle @operadeparis . #aboutlastweeks Starting to feel at home : sea and tide (me, the mountain girl!!), wind, 200m max D+ 😅, fun, home made delicious food, family, friends, love, swiss national day with the neighbors and home made macarons, new skills in the learning (Wagner's Ring and Wingfoil, both from the garden but with different success 😆), and old habits with dragonflies photo shooting and DIY renovation work all over the house!

#aida It's the final show! What a blast to have sung Amneris @operadeparis at the beginning of my season and now close it @semperoper ! I fell so grateful to sing one of my favorite roles in such iconic opera houses! It's amazing to witness how a role can continue to grow throughout time and performances and how I feel better and better with the difficulties of this very demanding role. Amneris will be back soon for more 'Anatema su voi"!!

How to sing when you are on your period? This is a

How to sing when you are on your period? This is a question that many young singers ask me! And I'm always shocked how little information we can find about the voice and the hormones! So I take the opportunity to have opened Aida this week while it was my first day on period to open this topic!

Your voice is affected by hormones. And your hormones change through your cycle. The day before your period (sometimes a few days) or the day of your period you feel your vocal cords thickens and get less flexible. You belly, your back hurts. You feel tired. The soft singing might feel more difficult. The high notes can be more difficult to reach. The chest voice can feel suddenly more powerful.

You have a performance on that day (worst : it's opening night!). What can you do? Tip 5 might be the most difficult!
1. Be gently with yourself. Stressing your body even more won't help. You have abdominal cramps? Talk with your physician about medical help and use a hot water bottle to relax your muscles.
2. Drink water! Stay hydrated!
3. Don't push! Never push but especially during theses days. You might be tempted to push on your larynx, especially if your bell hurts because it will be less responsive for appropriate support. But please don't!
4. Go through the performance one step at the time. Don't over panick about the end of the performance. Your feeling might get better later on with the adrenaline.
5. Accept the fact that this might not be your best performance ever. 150 years ago singer had "rouge days" during their period and did not perform. You are not at your 100%. Just accept it and work all the other days to improve your level so that 80% of tomorrow will be higher than 100% today.

#endofseason Summer is approaching and my end of season will be so exciting! We open Aida tomorrow @semperoper and it will be such a privilege to sing Amneris in this fantastic acoustic with the Staatskapelle Dresden after the very successful Carmen run! The season will end with a new role debut in a totally different repertoire: Ariodante! I'm so grateful to @talenslyriques and @christophe.rousset.officiel to give me the opportunity to sing this repertoire that I love so much! See you @festivaldebeaune July 4th!

Repost @semperoper 🔥 Carmen ist Mythos, Projektionsfläche und kompromisslose Verkörperung von Freiheit – eine Frau, die sich jeder Fremdbestimmung entzieht und gerade dadurch zur Herausforderung wird.

Für Don José wird Carmen zur Obsession – und zugleich zu seinem Fluch. Zwischen Pflicht, Ordnung und Begehren verliert er zunehmend den Halt, während Carmen unantastbar in ihrer Selbstbestimmung bleibt. Escamillo begegnet ihr dagegen ohne Besitzanspruch und bleibt dadurch bei sich selbst.
