#Aida #6 tonight! In Don Carlo and Aida, Verdi opens the second act with a scene of women chorus and mezzo showing an intimate moment between these ladies. @shirin__neshat chose this moment to show that no one is really free in this world. Even Amneris and her ladies in waiting, on the "powerful" side, are under the pharaos soldiers guard. Amneris is forced by a soldier to put a red dress to attend the prisonniers execution even if she refuses at first. With this scene, we see Amneris' first failure and constraint position.

Interview for @forumopera

Eve-Maud Hubeaux, a French-Swiss mezzo-soprano who has embraced a certain concept of virtuosity and sensitivity, answers our questionnaire.

Enthusiastically, she reveals her fall news and upcoming projects, including Amneris and Fricka (Walküre) at the Paris Opera, and Castor and Pollux at the Grand Théâtre de Genève this winter.

My best memory in an opera house?
My bows on the evening of the premiere of Aida at the 2022 Salzburg Festival: the power of a captivated audience, despite its reputation for being so demanding.

My worst memory in an opera house (or "my worst memory on stage")?
Tannhäuser at the Bayreuth Festival in 2015: the singer of Venus that evening really should have canceled.

The book that changed my life?
"What do you say after you say hello?" Eric Berne (the basic principles of transactional analysis)

The singer from the past with whom I would have loved to perform.

My greatest moment of grace in front of a work of art.
Nefertari's tomb.

The city where I feel at home?
The Alps between 1,000 and 3,000 meters above sea level.

Any city where I won't easily find Espelette chili and traditional balsamic vinegar from Modena.

In Switzerland: punctuality and the public transportation network.
In France: gastronomy and the art of hospitality.

The director I feel closest to?
Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier.

My worst memory with a chef?
There's only one on my black list, and he's not just in mine.

The conductor who taught me the most?
Bertrand de Billy and Antonio Pappano

Apart from singing, what's the most difficult thing I've had to do on stage?
Horseback riding

If I could learn an instrument overnight, which would it be?
The alphorn
